Pines Retreat Launches New Web site
We welcome you to our redesigned web site that is geared to keep the community up to date and connected with all of the events and news going on at the Pines Center. Digital Dreams LLC officially launched our web site on April 1, 2010 however some pages are still under construction at the moment so please be patient as they improve a little each day to bring the web site up to speed.

We will be discussing and reflecting on the book: Amish Grace by Donald Kraybill, Steven M. Nolt, and David L. Weaver-Zercher. This is a story about a tragedy in an Amish School House in Pennsylvania that turned into an act of forgiveness. Purchase a copy of the book at your local book store or online. Seeing Life from a New Vantage Point--Wednesday, June 20; 9:00am to 3:00pm

Sometimes it is hard to find God in the harsh realities of life. This reflection day offers input on how to put the events of life into a bigger perspective, one that allows us to know that God is with us in every life event.
This program provides time for input,
prayer, reflection and quiet. Lunch and
morning refreshments are included.

Conference Retreat:
Hope in the Midst of Global Concerns
Friday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 27; 7:00pm Friday to 10:30am Wednesday

If you wonder where Hope can be found and how you can be a witness of Hope to others, then come and join us as we reflect, pray, discuss the power of Hope and the Gospel challenge to live in Hope...
Presenter: Dr. Carol Zinn, a Sister of St. Joseph from Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA has ministered in the formal and non-formal education profession. Dr. Zinn worked in grassroots-based international movements as consultant and facilitator. In particular, she worked on the United Religions Initiative and the Earth Charter. She ministers with multi-sector and multi-issue groups in helping people deepen an understanding of global realities, local efforts, and the connections inherent. Dr. Zinn also worked as the Education Program Director for Global Education Associates, a non-governmental organization working to further global systemic change.
Dr. Zinn served as the main representative for the Congregations of St. Joseph, an NGO in General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council at the United Nations. She represented over 15,000 Sisters of St. Joseph who live and minister in 57 countries.

Praying with Watercolor, Walking, and Words
Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 1;
begins Friday with supper at 5:30pm and
ends at 1:00pm on Sunday

During this weekend, we will learn basic watercolor techniques that will be used to create prayer reflections. Walking meditations and Scripture will be incorporated into this creative process. Presenter: Sr. Margaret Marszal, HM. Cost: $185 Overnight and all meals/Commuter Rate: $90—lunch and supper included.

Come to the Pines for a day of rest and renewal. We will begin with an opening reflection on how to keep the Sabbath and provide some reenergizing time for yourself. Use the day to pray, read, create, walk, swim, or just be. Golf is available across the street. Massage is available but a reservation for it needs to be made in advance. Morning snack and lunch are included. Cost: $25

With the assistance of a spiritual director, the retreatants are aided in noticing God's presence
in their life. Scripture, nature, and other prayer resources allow retreatants to listen for God's
activity in every day events. An environment of silence is an important part of this retreat.

This program will feature sections of the Heartfulness: Transformation in Christ series which condenses the accumulated wisdom of Fr. Thomas Keating's many years of teaching and practice into essential areas for study, reflection and spiritual growth. The retreat will also provide an opportunity to deepen the practice of Centering Prayer in an atmosphere of silence and community support. This program is sponsored by Contemplative Outreach in Cleveland.

Walking the Labyrinth with a Prayer for Forgiveness

The labyrinth is a form of walking meditation that has been used by many cultures. In the Christian tradition, it was popularized in the Middle Ages.
