There are multiple interpretations about Reiki. Our retreat center uses a Christian interpretation based on the life, mission and teachings of Jesus Christ. Nothing and no one replaces His power. Reiki here is offered in the context of prayer.

REIKI (RAY-KEY) is a powerful but gentle energy, which has been used to aid in healing virtually every known illness of mind, body and spirit. It does not replace traditional medicine, but rather compliments the healing process. It can be incorporated effectively into the healing arts practiced by health professionals. REIKI is deeply relaxing and creates a sense of well being which increases the rate of recovery. The sensation felt by the recipient of a REIKI TREATMENT is usually a deep feeling of warmth and comfort.

REIKI is a natural healing technique that uses laying-on of hands. When activated and applied for purposes of healing, REIKI addresses the body, mind and spirit. It accelerates the body’s ability to heal physical ailments and opens the mind and spirit to the causes of disease, pain and disharmony. REIKI encourages one to take responsibility for one’s life and good health.

2008 Reiki Class Schedule

*All Reiki classes are offered in the context of prayer, with time to share and practice.

Reiki I

This class is the foundation of all three degrees and must first be mastered before the person is considered for the next degree.

This class will prepare the participant as a Level I Reiki Practitioner. Participants will learn to give Reiki treatments.

Reiki II

In this class the experience and use of Reiki is deepened.

The opportunity for you to discuss your practice with other Reiki practitioners, as well as give and receive Reiki at a deeper level is present

Reiki III

This class is open to all who have successfully completed Reiki I and Reiki II.

After completing Reiki III, you will have the necessary training to teach Reiki at all levels.

Karuna Reiki®

A program offered to experienced Reiki Masters. The purpose is to open the practitioner more deeply to Reiki energy. The symbols introduced focus on specific issues. The origin and use of the symbols are taught.

When the course is completed, the student will be a registered Karuna Reiki® Master recognized by the International Center for Reiki Training.

Faculty

Breta Gorman, RSM, a Spiritual Director at Our Lady of the Pines Retreat Center, received her Reiki training at Sophia Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a Registered Karuna/Usui Reiki Master/Teacher and has given hundreds of individual treatments.
